Invited by the Embassy of Cameroon, Dr.Peter, the director of International Clinic, Miss Wang and two other staff came to the embassy and provided an eye check-up for staff of the embassy and their families. Dr.Peter examined everyone’s eyes carefully and gave them effective suggestions how to protect their eyes.
During this eye screening, Dr.Peter detected the early stages of eye diseases of which the attendants were unaware. For example, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy develop slowly and sometimes without noticeable sight loss for many years. By the time a patient is aware of vision loss, the disease is usually quite advanced. As it was just a basic eye check, they were recommended to visit our hospital for further examination. Annual eye checkups are vital, especially for those aged 40 and above or have a family history of glaucoma.
While looking at a screening report of a 13-year-old girl, Dr.Peter was worried and told the girl’s mother: ”Your girl’s vision is very bad. But don’t worry, it’s not final result. You should take her to the eye hospital and do a dilated pupil examination and optometry test. Then we can get a prescription.” Dr. Peter also strongly advised the girl against using electronics too much.
After the completion of the check-up, the minister of the embassy met Dr.Peter and talked with him happily. The minister said that since the establishment of Sino-Cameroonian diplomatic relationship in 1971, lots of Chinese doctors go to Cameroon and help local people; many students from Cameroon come to China to study medicine and to be doctors. Therefore, the minister expressed his happiness and appreciation for Dr.Peter’s visit. Dr.Peter said it was his duty as a doctor to help much people as possible.
Finally, the minister warmly invited them for lunch. At the lunch, the minister expressed his thanks to Dr.Peter again and strong intention to further cooperation with Beijing Aier Intech Eye Hospital. On behalf of the hospital, Dr.Peter appreciated the opportunity and the trust of the Embassy of Cameroon. And he hoped he could help people as much as possible.
